What Covid-19 made you realize?
We all obviously know that Covid 19 affects our community in every aspect of life, the continuous deadly path, shutting down economic activity in most parts of the world.
Beside that, we got some unexpected positive side effects from NASA’s Earth-observing satellite information or European space agency which reveals the lower fossil fuel emissions impact air quality. We agree that we are extremely fortunate to be alive, and that striking a balance between the environment, people, and the economy is critical.
Each individual may help to protect our environment and care for our loved ones by taking little steps. Painting the walls is a common practice in the construction industry; however, in order to protect your health and the benefits of living in that house, learn about VOCs, a substance that has a negative impact on your health.
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. In fact, studies have shown that indoor VOCs can be up to 5 times more harmful to health than outdoor VOCs!
Adverse health effects may include eye, nose, and throat irritation, allergic reactions, headaches, dizziness, and nausea.
Some possible sources of VOCs include:
- Paints
- Aerosol sprays
- Cleaners and disinfectants
There are a few ways to deal with VOC!
- The first is to increase the ventilation in your home by opening your windows and doors, and switching on your fans. This will ensure that a consistent supply of fresh air flows through.
- Secondly, minimize your exposure by looking for products with low or, if possible, zero VOC.
At Benjamin Moore, we constantly strive to improve our products by reformulating various product lines to ensure VOC emissions are as low as possible. For instance, we were the first company in the US to introduce a zero VOC waterborne tinting system to the marketplace.
We will eventually adjust to this pandemic and learn to live with it in the future. We not only maintain our own health and develop a strong community with a green environment, but we also protect future generations’ health by doing simple things. Our job is to provide accurate facts, and the decision is yours.
